Oil Monkey AI Sidebar · Browser Agent
A free AI side panel for your browser: reads the page you are on, answers questions, operates the page, and turns a plain-language goal into a working automation script.
AI requests send the current page content, and any file you upload, to Oil Monkey’s servers to complete that request; the vendor’s privacy policy states that browsing content is neither stored nor sold. Sign-in tokens and related state are kept in your browser.
AI, docked in the browser side panel: read the page you are on, ask about it, hand over the clicking and filling — and generate a script on the spot when the task needs repeating.
What it does
- Chat mode: summarise, translate, extract and ask questions about the current page, with streaming answers you can stop at any time.
- Agent mode: reads the real page structure and can click, fill in fields, switch tabs, upload and download files or capture the visible area, then continue from each step’s actual result.
- One side panel, many models: switch between the models the platform has integrated (DeepSeek among them) instead of installing several extensions.
- Scripts: turn a plain-language goal into a working script for the current site, run it immediately, or install it to run automatically on matching pages.
- Transparent and controllable: every Agent step is shown, approvals can be automatic or requested, risky actions get a safety check, and background tasks stop when the browser disconnects.
Scope and limits
- An Oil Monkey account is required. The official site lists it as free (“free forever”); the quota and points rules are described there.
- Runs in Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Chrome and others). Because it reads and operates on pages, the install prompt asks for access to all websites and to the browser’s debugging interface.
- The vendor advises against putting account passwords or tokens into scripts, and suggests confirming step by step for high-risk actions such as submitting a form or paying.
