Font Subsetter

Shrink a font to only the glyphs your page actually uses, then download the subset as woff2 or ttf. This is on-demand subsetting, not format conversion — the font is never uploaded.

Runs locally in your browser

This is on-demand font subsetting, not font format conversion: glyphs your page does not use are removed, and woff2 / ttf are only the output containers. The font is processed in memory on this device and is never uploaded.

The first run downloads about 1.6 MB of WASM (harfbuzz + the woff2 encoder); later runs use the browser cache.

What it does

  1. Extract: reads text nodes, placeholders, pseudo-element content and alt / title.
  2. Subset: harfbuzz hb-subset rebuilds the glyph tables from your character set in WASM.
  3. Encode: woff2 is produced by the woff2 WASM encoder, never by a server.

Because of the same-origin policy this cannot render a page like font-spider’s PhantomJS did; paste text inserted by JavaScript directly. The sample font is FontAwesome 4 (SIL OFL 1.1 / MIT).
